The Trees of Pease.... Some snapshots of today’s watercolor tree ID workshop with @treefolks . Super fun! It was a hot one so thankfully we could paint beneath the shade of the trees.
June 23rd in Pease Park: come explore the intricacies of local oaks and other challenging tree species with us and @treefolks . We’ll use watercolor as a medium for documentation and as an observational tool. No experience necessary. *”Challenging” means hard to identify. Link with more info in bio.

Lost Austin: A ephemeral map made of people. Each person became a place on the map that no longer exists (Electric Lounge, Cafe Amis, Hernandez Cafe, Rhizome Collective, Cafe Mundi, SVT, Blue Theater, La India, the original Tamale House, a nameless late night hamburger joint near Lamar and 6th, former homes, a dog park, to name just a few). The future of Austin’s urban morphology is......strange. If you are a 1 story building (or even a 9 story one like #ashbelsmithhall ) with no cultural significance, you don’t stand a chance against the pressure of property values/ROI’s. I think the State Theater will survive, but it will be eventually be dwarfed in a major way by its tall new neighbor “The Avenue.”
